Hyderabad: Banjara Hills police took an engineering student from Saudi Arabia into custody for duping an air hostess. He had extracted Rs 15 lakhs from her on the pretext of marriage.
Saleem (30) befriended the woman who is working as an air hostess in Saudi Arabian airlines in 2015. Falling in love, the duo entered into a live-in relationship. The woman was then residing in Paramount colony in Shaikhpet. The accused, who is pursuing engineering in a private college in the city, introduced her to his parents and promised to marry her. Falling into his trap, the woman gave Rs 15 lakh to him following which the accused started ignoring her. Spotting Saleem in a plane from Riyadh to Hyderabad on December 6, the woman confronted him. But Saleem refused to marry her and return her money back.
The woman lodged a complaint in Banjara Hills police station. Acting upon the complaint, police arrested him and produced him before Nampally court and sent him to remand.
