Hyderabad: A private teacher convicted for rape was sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment by a special court in LB Nagar for cheating and raping a woman on the pretext of marrying her.
An additional Rs 60,000 fine was also slapped on rape convict Shaik Mohammed Jahangir (29), a private teacher from Vanasthalipuram for raping 21-year-old woman from Meerpet in a resort in 2012, tt reports.
The accused later cheated the victim and married another woman but continued to be in an illicit relationship with the victim.
When the accused learned the victim was pregnant he initially forced her to abort the child, when the victim refused to do so, he started suspecting the victim’s fidelity.
The Meerpet Police registered a case against the accused and arrested him. The court found him guilty and sentenced him to jail.
