Hyderabad: In yet another case of social media love resulting in death, a youngster who had taken his girlfriend’s gold chain committed suicide after her family lodged a complaint about the missing jewellery.
The couple reportedly met on TikTok, police said. The deceased was identified as Sai, a Zomato delivery boy from Erragadda area of SR Nagar.
Police said he met the girl, a resident of Kurnool, on TikTok app a couple of months ago, following which they fell in love and started dating. Due to financial problems, he asked the girl for her gold chain to pawn which she obliged.
However, the trouble arrived when the girl’s family started asking her about the ornament. When the girl told the truth to them about Sai, the family members demanded him to give it back.
They then approached the local police in Kurnool to book a complaint, following which the investigating officers called him to interrogate.
