Hyderabad traffic police ask auto unions to form ‘Conduct Rules’

Hyderabad: To sensitize auto unions restrain from the commission of crimes by auto drivers the Hyderabad Traffic Police conducted a meeting with all Auto unions of Hyderabad City in Traffic conference hall at Nampally on Friday.

Anil Kumar, Addl. Commissioner of Police, Traffic Hyderabad City informed that in recent times it came to the notice that some auto drivers involved in criminal offences while transporting passengers to their destinations.

Further, Mr. Anil Kumar urged Auto unions to make Hyderabad city as the best city for Tourism and Strive to uphold the image of Hyderabad city, which in turn increases their business. Anil Kumar asked auto unions to prepare “Conduct Rules” for Auto drivers and inform all the drivers by conducting meetings and sensitize them from restraining themselves from the commission of crimes especially against Senior citizens, Women and foreign tourists.  

He also requested them to share any information with Police regarding safety and security aspects to prevent crimes in the city.

While explaining about “My Auto is Safe” initiation of Hyderabad Traffic Police, Addl. CP, {Traffic) informed “so far 78793 Autos are registered under “My Auto is Safe”.  Citizens are sharing their journey experiences through My Auto is Safe application. Several citizens are given a 5-star rating and some auto drivers received 1-star rating also. 

Some citizens are complaining about Rash driving, Drunken driving, Excess loading, Misbehavior and Misleading of Auto drivers. When Citizens lose faith in journeys in Autos they will choose another transport option. This will affect the earnings of Auto drivers.

Continuous sensitizing about Traffic rules and safety of passengers is must and all Auto unions must conduct awareness programs and Hyderabad Traffic Police officers will also participate in that programs. Even after the communication of safety aspects to drivers if anyone indulges in crimes strict legal action will be initiated”

Mr. Anil Kumar informed citizens that if any violations like misbehaviour, Extra fare demanding, Refusal to ply by Auto Drives may inform to Dial 100, Hawkeye application, My Auto is Safe application, Traffic Police Helpline 9010203624 and Traffic Control room 040-27852482.
