Hyderabad: Two held for cheating 25 students with job promise

Hyderabad:  Two persons were arrested by Uppal police on Monday for cheating youngsters on the pretext of providing them with jobs in CSIR (CCMB-IICT), Hyderabad.

The accused, identified as Hariprasad Nair and E Shankar, collected up to Rs 3 lakh each from students and gave them fake appointment letters. The duo allegedly duped around 25 students to the tune of Rs 75 lakh.

It was revealed during investigation that Hariprasad had manipulated Shankar into pulling off the fraud with him. Claiming that he was a science officer at IICT Nacharam, Hariprasad told Shankar that he could arrange a job of office boy  at CSIR without any exam.

He also promised Shankar a salary of Rs 12,000 and demanded Rs 3 lakh for the favour. Shankar got lured and paid him the amount, after which Hariprasad prepared a fake ID card for him.

Convinced that he was now an office boy at CSIR, he started to work for Hariprasad as his ‘assistant’. Shankar started collecting Rs 3 lakh from students who showed interest and even offered a commission to Shankar.
