Hyderabad:Cops suspect dogs must have bitten off newborn’s head

Hyderabad: The severed head of a newborn baby dragged by stray dogs from the graveyard near Road No 13 which was caught on CCTV footage on Monday night.

The cops suspect the stray dogs must have bitten the head off the body, after digging it up from the burial ground, TOI reports.

“The severed head of a newborn baby girl found near a graveyard at Road Number 13, Banjara Hills, on Monday night, appears to have been torn off the corpse. There are no marks of any cut injuries. The CCTV footage shows the decomposed head of the child being brought to the location by stray dogs,” said Banjara Hills Inspector, N Kalinga Rao.

A woman who saw the dogs dragging the severed head, alerted the cops at around 9.30 pm on Monday night.

“We suspect the burial was not done properly and dogs must have dug up the area and found the body. We are still searching for the remaining body parts. There are several slums surrounds the burial ground. In most cases, people there who cannot afford hospitals conduct deliveries at home. So in case a baby dies, they bury them in the graveyard. We suspect that could have been the case,” added the officer.

The decomposed severed head was later shifted to Osmania General Hospital.

While a case was registered under section 317 (Exposure and abandonment of child under twelve years, by parent or person having care of it) of IPC and the cops are looking for the remaining body.
