ICC World Cup: Here’re the possibilities if rain plays spoilsport in semi-final matches

Manchester [UK]: Rain could play a spoilsport in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup semi-final matches on 9th and 11th July.

It may be mentioned that in the tournament, total of four matches were abandoned due to rainfall.

However, if rain interrupts semi-final matches, there are many possibilities as reported by Cric Tracker.

  1. First of all, if the stadium witnesses rainfall on the day when semi-final matches are scheduled to be held, the matches will be played on the reserve days.
  2. If rainfall occurs on reserve day too and teams fail to play even 20 overs, Super Over could be adopted.
  3. In worst case, if teams fail to play Super Over, points table will be used to break the tie.

It may be mentioned that India finished at the top on the World Cup standings with 15 points whereas New Zealand settled in the fourth position with 11 points.

Following are the squads for semi-final match:
