IIT-K decides not to revoke Dalit professor’s thesis

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-K) decided not to revoke the thesis submitted by a Dalit faulty, Dr. Sadrela. Accepting the report submitted by external expert committee, Board of Governors (BoG) took this decision.

According to the report published in Indian Express, the committee found no substance in plagiarism allegation against the faculty.

Press release issued by the university mentioned that appropriate advisory will be issued to the Dr. Sadrela and his thesis supervisor.

It may be mentioned that Dr. Sadrela is the member of teaching faculty of Aerospace Engineering in IIT-K.

Four months ago, the university’s Senate had recommended cancellation of Sandrela’s thesis. However, Ethics Cell had given report in his favour.

Plagiarism charges

It may be recalled that on 15th October 2018, an email was sent to many faculty members leveling plagiarism charges against him.

It may be noted that the allegation was leveled two months after inquiry revealed that four teachers harassed him.
