Include Muslims in OBCs, demands Telangana Muslim Reservation Front

Hyderabad: National Commission for Backward Classes visited Hyderabad and conducted public hearing at Ravindra Bharathi Auditorium.

State President of Muslim Reservation Front, Telangana met the Chairman of BCs Commission, Mr. Bhavanlal Sahani and other members and highlighted the injustices meted out to the Muslims in social, educational and employment fields.

The Front demanded the commission to include all the fourteen Muslim communities of BC-E in the list of OBCs so that along with other communities, Muslims should also get the benefits of 27% reservations provided in this category.

They also complained that Muslim BC communities like Mehtar, Laddaf, Banjara, Noorbash, Dudekula, Butchers, Darvesh (Muslim beggars) are not getting jobs in Central Departments despite their inclusion in the list of OBCs. The Front requested the commission to include these communities in the Central list.

The delegation recalled that Central Govt. had appointed a commission under the chairpersonship of Justice G. Rohini, former Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. The Front had already submitted the memorandum to her but no action was taken.

The Front also demanded that a separate category of at least 5% should be allocated for Muslim BCs so that they could also get justice.

After careful hearing of the representation, the commission assured that it would recommend to Govt. of India for the inclusion of all the 14 categories of BC-E group in the list of OBCs.
