Washington: Indian American Muslim Council strongly condemned the abrogation of Article 370. The council also deplored the decision of dividing the state into two parts and making them union territories. In a statement, the council said that stripping the state of its special status without consulting the people of the state is against the constitution and international laws. It is also against freedom and justice.
Indian American Muslim Council also condemned the haste and the way in which Narendra Modi government scrapped the Article. The council said the Modi government kept hundreds of MPs in illusion on the issue.
The council felt that long-lasting peace in the valley is not possible without the active participation of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. It also deplored the clampdown in Kashmir.
