Jaipal praises “The Hindu” for exposing Rafale deal

Hyderabad: Former Union minister S. Jaipal Reddy on Thursday heaped praises on the editor of the Hindu English daily for bringing facts related to controversial Rafale aircraft deal to the fore. He said the article published in the Hindu on Wednesday was an indication of protection of democracy. He also condemned the attack of ruling BJP on the paper after the publication of the article.

Addressing mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan, Jaipal Reddy said the BJP leaders like Defence M0inister Nirmala Sitharaman and Arun Jaitley have said the agreement executed by their government was cheaper than the one executed by the previous UPA government. Referring to the statement of CAG, Jaipal Reddy said the statement made it clear that the deal clinched by Modi government did not have bank guarantee and added that despite this, Modi was not revealing the actual price of each Rafale aircraft. Noting that the Congress had appreciated the Balakot attack by IAF, he alleged that the ruling party leaders were trying to link both deals.
