Jamia shooting: AAP demands Amit Shah’s resignation

NEW DELHI: Delhi’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday sought Home Minister Amit Shah’s resignation after a man opened fire at an anti-Citizenship Amendment Act march, injuring a Jamia Millia Islamia student.

“Delhi’ law and order is becoming worse by the day,” said AAP spokesperson Ajoy Kumar after the man brandishing the gun was reported to have gone Live on Facebook just ahead of pulling the stunt.

Delhi Police comes under the Union Home Ministry.

“The police was standing there. This shows that the Home Minister and the Centre is giving him protection. This happens just two days after (BJP MP) Anurag Thakur made a remark. We demand resignation from Amit Shah. There should be an FIR against Thakur,” Kumar told media.

He was alluding to Thakur’s “shoot the traitor” remark.

He said the incident like today’s used to happen in countries like Iraq where there are hardly any government.

Equating the unidentified man with Nathuram Godse, the man who shot dead the Father of the Nation, Kumar called the incident sad as it happened on the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
