J&K: 3 detainees released, more to be freed

Srinagar: In a new development, the J&K administration under the ruling party BJP has released three political detainees from Srinagar’s MLA hostel on Friday.

While National Conference’s Ali Mohammad Sagar and Ishafaq Jabbar were rushed to Shere-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences for medical checkup after they complained of chest pain dropping the total detenues from 33 to 30 at the MLA hostel, TOI reports.

Among those released are J&K People Democratic Front’s Hakeem Yaseen, J&K Democratic Party’s Ghulam Hassan Mir and Peoples Democratic Party’s Mohammad Ashraf Mir.

The politicians were later taken back to the hostel after their medical checkup.

Several Politicians, influential personalities have been detained since August 5 after Articles 370 and 35A were nullified.

According to sources, the authorities are releasing detenues in a phased manner.
