JNU violence: PIL filed, Prof’s seek directions to preserve data

New Delhi: The JNU violence by masked goons has shocked the nation after the Police clampdown on Jamia Millia Islamia students proving the younger generation, irrespective of religion, is no longer safe in the hands of Hindutva ideology politicians.

Fearing conspiracy from their assaulters, three JNU professors on Friday approached the Delhi High Court seeking directions to preserve data, CCTV footage and other evidence relating to the violence inside the varsity campus that took place on January 5, Financial express reports.

The Professors petition also sought directions for preservation and retrieval of all material/evidences available with WhatsApp INC, Google INC and Apple INC pertaining to relevant data of WhatsApp groups ‘Unity Against Left’ and ‘Friends of RSS’ including messages, pictures, videos and phone numbers of the members, in connection with the violence at JNU.

The petition was filed by JNU professors Ameet Parameswaran, Atul Sood and Shukla Vinayak Sawant seeking immediate necessary directions to the Delhi Police Commissioner and Delhi government fearing conspiracy against the JNU Staff and students.

Advocates Abhik Chimni, Maanav Kumar and Roshni Naamboodiry filed the petition in the High court along with seeking directions to the Delhi Police to retrieve all CCTV footage of JNU campus.
