Kakatiya University students protest against closure of hostels

Hyderabad: The students of Kakatiya University in Warangal had protested against the decision of the Telangana government to close the hostels.  The students expressed their displeasure over the government’s decision by setting on fire a statue of the government.

The protest staged by various students organizations near gate No.1 of the university lead to law and order situation for some time.

Speaking on the occasion, the students charged that the hostels were closed to keep them away from education.  This decision is not in their interests.

The students raised slogans against the state government and the Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. 

Speaking to the media persons the students charged that the university officials have not taken any steps to open the hostels.  These officials are not bothered about the welfare of the students.

The students said that on the eve of the MLC elections they were given an assurance that the hostels would be opened.  But even after this assurance and getting the votes they are not opening the hostels, the students said.
