Kanhaiya Kumar to contest Lok Sabha polls from Bihar’s Begusarai

Begusarai: Former president of the JNU Student Union, Kanhaiya Kumar’s name for Begusarai parliamentary seat is almost final. He will contest the Lok Sabha polls from Bihar’s Begusarai constituency as a CPI candidate.

According to News18, the party’s district unit has sent a recommendation for his candidature. The formal announcement will, however, be made after the approval from the party’s state executive by the first week of March.

Former president of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Student Union (JNUSU) Kanhaiya Kumar hails from Bihar Panchayat under Baroni block of Begusarai district.

Begusarai known as the left-wing bastion of Bihar, is dominated by Bhumihar community. According to sources, while the Congress is in favour of Kanhaiya Kumar’s candidature from Begusarai seat, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) may stake claim for the seat.
