Hyderabad: Kapda Bank which was set up at Abid Ali Khan Eye Hospital, Darulshifa in 2016 completed three years of its existence.
During the past three years, it distributed 53000 pairs of garments to 10500 families.
It may be mentioned that this bank was setup with the efforts of Siasat Urdu Daily, Faiz-e-Aam Trust and Helping Hands Organization. It has gained unique position not only in the city but also throughout the country. Every day, the bank distributes clothes to the needy persons from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Kapda Bank receives clothes from Canada
Right from its inception, it received clothes from Canada in five containers. The 6th containers is likely to arrive soon.
It may be mentioned that wedding garments for bride and groom are presented in a nice package to the needy persons.
While addressing a meeting held at the above bank, Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily lamented that the organization is receiving more help from other countries when compared to locals.
Wedding dresses
He told that there are many families which have expensive wedding suits locked in almirahs which are rarely used. If these garments are donated to this bank, it may fulfill the needs of poor persons.
He further informed that it has been decided to keep Kapda Bank open on Sundays also. The donors may handover their used clothes according to their convenience at the office of Faiz-e-Aam Trust, Babu Khan Complex, Basheer Bagh or Helping Hands Office located at Bazar Guard.
In addition to clothes, jackets, sweaters, shoes, frames of spectacles may also be donated.
The needy persons may approach the office of the bank with Aadhaar Card and residence proof.
It may be noted that last year, during the severe cold season, hundreds of blankets were distributed to the persons found sleeping on the footpaths. Present in the meeting were Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, Managing Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily, Mr. Iftekhar Husain, Secretary, Faiz-e-Aaam Trust and Dr. Shaukat Ali Mirza, Managing Trustee of Helping Hands.
