Bidar: Karnataka police sealed the offices of Shaheen School after its students participated in a play against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).
Police also questioned students of classes 4 and 5.
Controversy
The controversy started after a journalist, Mohammed Yusuf Raheem uploaded the video of the play which was staged on the Republic day, January 26.
In the play, the participating children say that if anyone asks for documents then they should be hit with slippers.
Reacting on it, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a student organization affiliated to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), had protested saying the play was derogatory.
Case registered
A case has been registered against the school management under Sections 124A (sedition), 504 (provoking breach of peace), 505(2) (statements promoting enmity), 34 (act done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) and 153A (promoting communal hatred) .
Meanwhile, Thouseef Madikeri, CEO of Shaheen Education Institute said that senior cops visited the school and mentally harassed the students.
He further alleged that policemen interrogated students of classes 4 and 5.
Authorities of the institution are making an attempt to get bail from local court, he added.
