Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan took to Twitter to congratulate the young couple and termed the wedding, “an example of unity from Kerala.”

“Congratulations to the newlyweds, families, mosque authorities and people of Cheravally,” Pinarayi said in a tweet.

Because of the poor economic background, Bindu Ashok, mother of Anju, had sought masjid committee’s help which they readily agreed.

The committee not only arranged facilities for the wedding of 24-year-old Anju but also gifted ten sovereigns of gold and Rs two lakh to the bride as a wedding gift.

The rare occasion signifying communal amity was witnessed by more than 1,000 guests from both the communities.
