NEW DELHI: Former RSS ideologue KN Govindacharya on Thursday has written to the Prime Minister’s Office seeking live streaming of Ayodhya case for “larger public interest”.
In a letter addressed to Cabinet Secretary Pramod Kumar Sinha, Govindacharya, veteran lawyer K G Gupta of think tank Centre for Accountability and Systemic Change and other signees requests the Centre to set up the infrastructure before January 29 for the live streaming of proceedings in “the nation’s oldest litigation having a lot of confusion and peculiarities”.
“The whole country, including the prime minister, is eager for early resolution of this matter. For the last eight years, the matter has been pending before the Supreme Court. Countless attempts are being made by many parties to delay the hearings, the details of which the country must know,” the letter said, reported a leading news agency.

The Supreme Court on Thursday fixed January 29 as the next date of hearing in the politically-sensitive Ram Janmabhoomi–Babri Masjid land dispute matter after Justice UU Lalit recused himself from the case.

A five-judge Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, and comprising of Justice SA Bobde, Justice NV Ramana, Justice UU Lalit and Justice DY Chandrachud, said that there will be no hearing in the case on Thursday adding that only date and schedule will be decided.
Justice UU Lalit recused himself from hearing the case after advocate Rajeev Dhavan, appearing for a Muslim party pointed out that Justice Lalit had appeared for Kalyan Singh government in 1997.
