Make Ganesh festival a grand success: Mayor

Hyderabad: GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan on Tuesday called upon all sections of people and officials of all government departments to make the upcoming Navratri Ganesh festival celebrations and idols’ immersion program a grand success in the city. 


Addressing a review meeting held with the officials and representatives of different organizations along with Commissioner of the urban local body Lokesh Kumar, the Mayor said although the Ganesh celebrations had been held successfully in the city since the last couple of years, the arrangements were being made by taking into consideration several new issues. He said they were making elaborate arrangements for the successful conduct of the festival by roping in the services of more number of officials and staff.


Rammohan said a total of 254 cranes would be set up at different locations of the Corporation. He said special sanitation drive would be held at all Ganesh pandals from September 2 to September 12 in the city. He said they were spending Rs 8.24 crore for the installation of the cranes and Rs 9.24 crore for taking up road maintenance and other works in the city limits.
