Bareilly: In a shameful and shocking incident, a man was beaten to death by his friend over just Rs 120.
The incident is reported from UP’s Lakhimpur kheri where the victim identified Ramu was beaten to death by his friend Birju Kumar after they both got into a heated argument, TN reports.
According to reports, Ramu’s son, Dileep, the accused had borrowed money from Ramu. When the latter asked him to return the money, Birju allegedly started hurling abuses at him. He started hitting Ramu with a stick when he objected to the same.
Ramu was rushed to a nearby hospital, after he sustained serious injuries on his head and died while undergoing treatment.
The police registered a case under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) based on the statement given by Dilip.
Speaking on the incident, Inspector Ajay Mishra said that they have arrested the accused and he has been sent to the Lakhimpur district jail.
Sunandu Sudhakarn, SDM said, “I have observed that most of the people in this area live below the poverty line. I have decided to begin a campaign to identify whether the needy people are actually getting the benefits of government schemes or not. We will run a drive to ensure that the gram samaj land is free from squatters so that it can be allotted to people who don’t have land for farming.”
