Man kidnaps, rapes schoolgirl, gets life imprisonment

Visakhapatnam: The First Additional Metropolitan Session’s court sentenced 30-year-old auto driver and his associate to life imprisonment for kidnapping and raping a minor girl.


The Court also announced Rs 3 Lakh compensation to the survivor besides imposing a fine of Rs 16,000 on the accused to be paid to the victim’s family.


Commenting on the status of the case, Special public prosecutor M Venu Gopala Rao said the court had found the accused Perla Appa Rao alias Shiva (30), of Gangavaram area, guilty of kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl.

The AP government will provide the compensation within one month, he added.

The prosecutor added the incident occurred on April 23, 2015 when the minor girl a Class-VIII student of a private school, was waiting for a bus to go home.

The accused and his associate friend G Nalamaha Raju (27) alias Chanti kidnapped her and took her to an isolated place where the former raped her.

The victim had back then managed to escape and reach home where she narrated the ordeal.
