Man used wife to file fake rape cases to extort money, held

Gurugram: Gurugram Police have arrested a former Unani medicine practitioner who allegedly forced his wife to register fake rape cases to extort money from the accused persons and take revenge on people, an official said.

The accused also levelled rape charges against a Duty Magistrate, who recorded his wife’s statement.

Hazar Khan was living in Nuh district of Haryana with his wife. Earlier in 2016, he was running an Unani medicine clinic, where the woman, now his wife, was working as the receptionist, said ACP Shakuntala.

The accused forced the woman to convert to marry her. A year after, the woman gave birth to their child but in between Khan got involved in a case of firing and was sent to jail.

After some time Khan came out of jail and started using his wife as a tool to extort money from innocent persons by framing them under rape charges.

The woman had approached the Manesar Women Police Station to report a fake gang rape incident on June 29. Following the complaint, the local police presented her before the Duty Magistrate to record her statement.

But Khan approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court and filed a case against the Duty Magistrate that he had raped his wife.

“When Khan’s wife learnt about the case, she got scared and took the help of her aunt and approached the Manesar police station,” Shakuntala said.

Following her complaint, the police arrested Khan on Thursday.

During counselling, the woman revealed that Khan was using her as a tool against his enemies by forcing her to file fake rape cases against them and was extorting money from innocent people.
