A student from SS Law College in this Uttar Pradesh district has gone missing from her college hostel, days after posting a video about alleged harassment
“She has been recovered by a police team along with a young man,” Additional Director General of Police Bareilly Avinash Chandra told The Hindustan Times.
The development came just before a two-judge bench of the Supreme Court led by Justice R Banumathi decided to hear the matter on Friday after a group of lawyers raised concerns.

In the video posted on Facebook on August 23, the girl accused that “big leader of the Sant Samaj” had “destroyed the lives of many other girls and also has threatened to kill me” and since then (August 24) went missing.
The girl alleged that Swami Chinmayanand, who is the director of her college, is threatening to eliminate her and her family because she has evidence that could land him in trouble.
Girl Seeks CM Yogi and PM Modi’s Help
The girl sought the help of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the video.
“I am (name withheld) from Shahjahanpur and am pursuing LL.M from SS College. A big leader of the saint society, who has destroyed the lives of several girls, has been threatening me with (my) life. I have all the evidences against him. I request Modi ji and Yogi ji to please help me. He has even threatened to kill my family”, she said in the video.
“Only I know what I have been going through. Modi ji please help me, he is a sanyasi and is threatening that the police, district magistrate and everyone else is on his side and no one can harm him. I request you all for justice”, she added.
Based on her video, her father had given a written complaint against Chinmayanand.
Untraceable Since Many Days
The girl remain untraceable for many days. The father of the girl has alleged that he has been trying to contact her but in vain.
A Powerful BJP Leader
This isn’t the first time that Swami Chinmayanand, who was minister of state in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government from 1999-2004 has been accused of assault and rape.
Last year, the Yogi Adityanath government had decided to withdraw the rape and abduction case lodged against Swami Chinmayanand.
The FIR against him was lodged in November 2011, on the complaint of a girl who had spent several years at his ashram.
