“Modi Ji Ki Sena”: Ex-Navy Chief to take action against UP CM Yogi Adityanath

“Modi Ji Ki Sena”: Ex-Navy Chief to take action against UP CM Yogi Adityanath

The Former Navy chief Admiral L Ramdas has said that he will approach the Election Commission against the Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath for referring to the Army as “Modi ji ki Sena (Modi’s army)” last week at an election rally.

He stated that “The armed forces do not belong to any one individual, they serve the country. Till the polls get over, the Chief Election Commissioner is the boss. I am going to approach the Election Commission in this regard.”

Earlier last month, Mr Ramdas wrote an open letter to Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora and asked immediate intervention of the Election Commission to stop political parties from politicizing Pulwama and its aftermath.

Mr Adityanath at a rally in Ghaziabad on Sunday referred to the Army as “Modi ji ki Sena”, leading to a political storm with sharp criticism from the opposition.

According to the sources, the remarks have also not gone down well with the military, indicating that it was “upset”.

Yogi Adityanath’s comments did not come as a surprise to Lieutenant General HS Panag (retired), he said such remarks have been made by politicians over the last five years in an attempt to link nationalism with the armed forces.

The Election Commission has sought a report from the Ghaziabad district administration on Mr Adityanath’s comments.
