Money raised to bring Charitha’s body from US

Hyderabad: On December 27, a young IT professional woman was killed in a road accident in US.

According to a report in the TOI, Hyderabad, Charitha (25), who had been working for a multinational company in the US for over four years, died on December 27 when an drunkard drove his vehicle into her parked car.

Charitha was sitting in her car on the rear seat when the driver rammed his vehicle into her car. She was badly injured and succumbed to the injuries later. Her parents said, another girl, who was in the car, was operated for an injury on her jaw, but is believed to be out of danger.

Appeal for help

Her family appealed for online donation of $ 50,000 to bring her body back to the city. Within a couple of days, as much as $1,07,779 was raised with 3400 people donating for the cause.

Jayanthi, Charitha’s cousin then decided to stop accepting donations.

She was organizing the online donations on a GoFundMe page. In her appeal, Jayanthi had said, “The Muskegon Heights man who hit our car was intoxicated and it was the sole reason for this incident and we request you to be sober while driving.”

Fake Appeal

After the appeal for Charitha, it has emerged that another online appeal has collected $1,132 on the GoFundMe platform. The fake online appeal seeking donations has already been called out by Charitha’s family. The fake appeal was deactivated soon after. A message posted on Charitha’s FB account said, “Just wanted to bring to your notice that there is a fake GoFundMe page circulating in social media. Please report on GoFundMe immediately to concerned officials.
