Motorola announces launch of ‘Edge 20’ series in India

Hyderabad: Motorola, the Lenovo-owned smartphone brand, is all set to launch its new “Edge 20” smartphone series in India on August 17. The company has announced the launch of Edge 20 and Edge 20 Fusion smartphones on its social media handles. While the Edge 20 looks similar to the same model launched in Europe last month, Edge 20 Fusion might be a rebranded version of Edge 20 Lite.

Both devices are set to run on the latest Android 11. In a market dominated by affordable Chinese manufacturers, these two offerings come as a desperate attempt by the company to recapture its dwindling market share in the mid-range segment.

“Change the game and top the leaderboard with the fastest 576Hz touch rate in the all-new #motorolaedge20. #FindYourEdge and emerge victorious as it launches 17th Aug, 12 PM on @Flipkart,” the company wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Recently, the company had posted some teasers on its official Instagram and Twitter accounts with the hashtag #FindYourEdge, suggesting an imminent launch of the Edge 20 lineup in India.

Motorola Edge 20

Motorola claims Edge 20 to be the “Slimmest 5G smartphone in India,” with a thickness of 6.99 mm. The device comes with 6.7-inch OLED screen with a refresh rate of 144 Hz. It is set to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 778 5G SoC, and equipped with 8GB RAM with 128/256 GB of internal storage.

“Incredibly stylish, light, and built with cutting-edge technology. Presenting India’s slimmest 5G smartphone: #motorolaedge20. #FindYourEdge,” Motorola India tweeted.

The phone shows off a triple rear camera with a 108 MP primary sensor, 16 MP ultrawide shooter accompanied with 8 MP telephoto lens. It comes with a 32MP front shooter for selfies.

The device is backed by a 4000 mAh battery and comes with 30W TurboPower charging technology that delivers 8 hours of power in just 10 minutes of charge.

Motorola Edge 20 Fusion

Edge 20 Fusion is the younger sibling of Edge 20 with a low powered MediaTek Dimensity 720 processor. The screen remains almost the same as Edge 20 with a 6.7-inch OLED display at slower 90 Hz refresh rate.

“Crafted for style and built with premium features, a remarkable smartphone is born. Bringing you motorolaedge20fusion. Stay tuned!” Motorola tweeted.

Edge 20 Fusion comes with a triple camera set up with a 108MP primary shooter, 8MP ultra-wide camera and 2MP depth sensor. It comes with a bigger 5000 mAh battery coupled with 30W TurboPower charging technology.
