Mughal prince started inter-faith dialogue: RSS Jt. Secy.

New Delhi: RSS Joint Secretary Krishna Gopal told that Muhammad Darah Shukoh, the eldest son of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan was the first person, to start the inter-faith dialogue method. He informed that Dara Shukoh had studied all religious holy books and spent his time among the religious scholars, exchanging thoughts with them on a host of topics and issues.

Krishna Gopal told this while inaugurating the two-day seminar, titled ‘Muhammad Darah Shukoh: Life and Works,’ organised by the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL), on Wednesday. NCPUL is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

Dr Gopal further revealed that Dara Shukoh had learnt Sanskrit to study the Hinduism and spent some time with the Brahmins of Banaras (Kashi).

Guest of honour of the seminar Vice Chancellor Aligarh Muslim University Prof Tariq Mansoor, Vice Chancellor Jamia Millia Islamia Prof Najma Akhtar, Vice Chairman NCPUL Prof Shahid Akhtar, director NCPUL Dr Shaikh Aqueel Ahmed and others also addressed on the occasion.
