Mumbai: A 20-year-old pregnant woman was mercilessly hacked to death by her own father for marrying against his wishes in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar.
In this case of honour killing, the victim identified as Meenakshi was found in a pool of blood by the Police on Sunday, India Today reports.
Things turned ugly when Meenaakshi married her longtime boyfriend Brajesh Chaurasia against her father Rajkumar’s wishes in February.
The police sent the body for post mortem and immediately initiated their probe the same day leading to the Rajkumar’s arrest by the Mumbai police.
DCP Akhilesh Singh of Mumbai Police said the victim before marrying brajesh had twice rejected the grooms selected by her father, and finally eloped with Brajesh and got married in Satna, Madhya Pradesh.
On Saturday evening, the accused father contacted Meenakshi on the pretext of giving her money to buy clothes. When she visited her father, he intentionally dropped the money on the floor and when Meenakshi bent to pick the money he attacked her with a sharp weapon, leading to her death and fled the spot.
However, the police tracked his mobile signal leading to his arrest.
