NaMo TV goes live ahead of elections; Congress cries foul

New Delhi: After NaMo App, a satellite channel by the same name has been launched, on which opposition has raised questions. The channel is being supplied on Videocon and Dish TV. Presently schemes launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his old and new speeches are aired. The opposition has demanded immediate closure of the channel and action against it.

According to Inquilab, Congress national spokesman M Afzal said that it is a violation of model code of conduct issued by the Election Commission. Hence notice should be issued and action be taken against it.

M Afzal further said that Election Commission has clearly mentioned in its guidelines that there should be no paid news, and here the channel is totally publicizing a particular leader. He said NaMo TV is presenting only Prime Minister Narendra Modi which is unconstitutional.

M Afzal claimed that Narendra Modi is obsessed with false publicity. He has already purchased 80 per cent news channels which sing his praises and now he has launched his own channel.

Congress spokesman further alleged that Election Commission is also dancing to the tune of Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission on Wednesday appointed a committee of senior officers to look into the PM’s address to the nation in the light of the Model Code of conduct.
