Lahore: Four Anti-Corruption Bureau officials on Tuesday questioned for an hour Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the Kot Lakhpat Jail in connection with the Pakpatan land allotment case.

Showing him the land records, the officials informed him that he was one of the suspects, according to media reports. Sharif said as it was a very old issue and pertained to the period when he was Chief Minister he did not remember much.

According to sources, the officials told him that his former secretary had sought the allotment details and cleared the file in 24 hours. To this, Sharif said the department must have sent the case and possibly the secretary okayed it in a haste. Thus, only he could answer this question, he added.

The officials told Sharif the department had objected to the allocation, but the secretary cleared it.

According to officials, Sharif’s former secretary said he worked as per the directions of the erstwhile Chief Minister (Nawaz Sharif) of Punjab.
