Nephew shoots at uncle for stopping him from hitting wife, son

Ghaziabad: A man reportedly fired at his uncle after he intervened to stop him from thrashing the man’s wife in Ghaziabad.

The accused is identified as 32-year-old Dinesh Diwakar, an alcoholic who frequently thrashed his wife allegedly shot dead his 63-year-old uncle Satish Chandra when he attempted to stop him from thrashing his wife and eight-year-old son.

The case is yet another example of domestic violence. Deceased victim was retired from Indian Railways and used to reside near the house of the accused who is nephew of the victim.

According to reports, on Friday when the victim went for his daily walk after dinner, some neighbours rushed to him and informed his nephew Dinesh was once again beating his wife and their minor son.

Upon hearing this, victim Chandra immediately rushed to Dinesh’s home  and tried to intervene and attempted to stop the accused from thrashing his wife when she had refused to give him money for alcohol.

“My father intervened in the matter and slapped Dinesh when he could not stop him from beating his wife. Moments later, Dinesh went inside the room and took out a pistol and shot my father,” victim’s son Ashwani Diwakar said.

Though the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital he died during the treatment.

A case has been registered under section 302 of IPC against the accused said the Station House Officer (SHO) of Sihani Gate police station.

Crime weapon pistol has been recovered from the crime scene while the accused was produced before a court and sent to jail.
