14 killed in Bihar road accident

New Delhi: At least 14 persons, including four children, were killed on Monday when their auto-rickshaw was hit by a speeding bus in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar, police said.

The accident took place near Jhapha village in Muzaffarpur, about 70 km from Patna.

“An over crowded auto-rickshaw was hit by a speeding bus after the driver lost control,” a district police official said.

Angry over the accident, villagers blocked the Muzaffarpur-Sitamarhi road and demanded compensation for the victims families.

The state government has announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the victims.
