15 Mother & Child Care Centers will be opened: Lakshma Reddy

 In the wake of success of KCR Kits program with more number of pregnant women getting registered for child delivery in government hospitals, the officials concerned were making efforts to set up adequate number of “Mother and Child Care Centers” in the State.

Health Minister Dr C Lakshma Reddy today directed the officials in a review meeting to prepare a plan of action to set up more number of such centers. The issue of more number of such centers will be taken to the notice of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for his permission, he said. He also directed officials to fill vacant posts and improve facilities, stocks of medicines in the hospitals to provide better health services.

The minister said the State government has so far distributed 10,6,213 KCR Kits among women on delivery and helped them financially. The KCR Kits scheme gave rise in the women coming to hospitals to avail the facility and benefits on behalf of the government he said. He also said that so far 5,08,336 expectant mothers have registered for delivery in government run hospitals. Thus a there is a rise of more than 50 per cent women preferring the government hospitals for delivry the minister claimed. Keeping future needs in view the officails should increase number of mother and child care centers he said. Lakshma Reddy said that 15 such centers needd to be opened in addition to sanction given for 5 centers, gave permission to 7 new hospitals he said.

The minister instructed the officials to prepare plans to upgrade and equip the district level hospitals and at also at towns and villages and non communicable diseases kits. The minister discussed with the officials on the facilities in the government hospitals and asked to take immediate steps to address the issues and provide adequate stocks of medicines and keep the premises clean.
