17 Basti Hospitals will Start in City from April: Minister

Medical and Health Minister Dr C Laxma Reddy has informed that the state government was establishing 45 ‘Basthi Hospitals’ across the Hyderabad city.

Replying to the questions raised by TRS Members KP Vivekanand, G Sayanna, Madhavaram Krishna Rao in the Legislative Assembly on Sunday, Laxma Reddy said that the patients would avail the services of 17 Basthi Hospitals from April. The government was initiating steps to run the Basthi Hospitals perfectly and it would set up Basthi Hospitals in all Cities across the state in phased manner. The government was firm on strengthening the medical sector in comprehensive manner. The government decided to set up government hospitals in all towns across the state. The Health Minister made it clear that the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was giving top priority to the public health.

In reply to another question raised by TRS Members Vemula Veeresham, Chinta Prabhakar and Banoth Madan Lal, the Minister also said that there was a proposal to give pension to the individuals suffering from Lymphatic Filariasis in the state. The government was finalising the modalities in this regard, he said. Giving details, Laxma Reddy said that 40,000 people were suffering from Lymphatic Filariasis in the state. The government will extend pension identifying the persons, who were not in a position to work with the Lymphatic Filariasis. He said that the Lymphatic Filariasis will be curbed if measures are taken.

The MLAs have to create awareness among the people to see that the mosquitoes are not raised. The authorities of Sri Lanka nation announced that the Sri Lanka was a Lymphatic Filariasis-free nation. He urged all, particularly MLAs, to strive to transform the Telangana state Lymphatic Filariasis-free state. The government took precautionary measures to see that the Toxic Fevers not troubled the Agency areas.

He informed the House that the government directed the District Collectors to initiate steps to eradicate mosquitoe menace by keeping the surroundings clean. The Toxic Fevers have to be controlled totally with eradicating mosquitoes menace. He said that Lymphatic Filariasis patients were suffering severely during defecation and keeping this trouble in view the government directed the officials concerned to construct western toilets through NREGS.
