2 Palestinians killed in Israeli army firing

Gaza City [Palestine]: Two Palestinian nationals were killed in a gunfire by Israeli army near the Gaza-Israel buffer zone on Friday.

In a statement, Palestine’s Health Ministry said that the two persons — Hassan Shalabi (14) and Hamza Ashtiwi (18) were “martyred by Israeli forces.”, Anadolu News Agency reported.

Furthermore, 17 other Palestinians were injured in the firing, the ministry added.

Since March last year, more than 250 Palestinian nationals have died in firing by the Israeli army, who have been deployed along the buffer zone.

On May 15 last year, the ‘Great March of Return’ rallies culminated to mark the anniversary of ‘Nakba’ or ‘The Catastrophe’, the forced removal of 750,000 Palestinians from their homes to clear the way for Israel’s establishment in 1948.

Prior to that, a large number of Palestinians had gathered to protest the relocation of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in May.

The Palestinians are also demanding an end to Israel’s 12-year blockade of the Gaza Strip, which has affected nearly two million people from getting access to basic needs.
