22 suicides: There was no err in declaration of results responds TSBIE on allegations

Hyderabad: There was no technical error in the declaration of Intermediate results that led to the suicide of several students clarified TSBIE yesterday. The suicide of 22 Intermediate students over their failure was due to their poor academic performance.

A committee of subject experts was constituted by the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) to verify the errors in evaluation, posting and totalling marks after many students committed suicide over results.

“A total of 53 answer scripts of failed students who committed/attempted suicide were re-verified by the selected regular lecturers of respective subjects. It was observed that there was no remarkable change in the results of the students after re-verifying. Failed subjects remained failed after re-verification too,” the TSBIE said on Sunday.

Since the students took this extreme step to end their lives, the officials had previously opined an in-depth analysis of all cases must be conducted by an expert committee to avoid such untoward incidents in the near future.

“Based on the report of the three-member committee a new agency has been selected by the TSTS to update the data online and process result. The committee has indicated that both Globarena and the new agency will process the result parallelly and independently so that there won’t be any error in result declaration,” the Board said in a press release.
