22-year-old woman held for ‘marrying’, ‘sexually assaulting’ 17-year-old boy

Mumbai: In a strange case, police arrested a 22-year-old woman under the charges of ‘sexually assaulting’ a 17-year-old. She is facing charges under sections of the POCSO Act, relevant sections of IPC and Child Marriage Act.

According to the report published in TOI, the mother of the boy had lodged a complaint in December 2017, however, the woman was arrested earlier this month. In the complaint, the mother of the boy had alleged that on 23rd November 2017, the woman had came along with her parents and claimed that she had married the boy. When the parents of the boy opposed to her claim, she left the house. The boy also left the house on the same night.

The mother of the victim further claimed that her son informed that the woman is harassing him and threatening to commit suicide if he stops meeting her.

On the other hand, the woman claimed that the relationship was consensual and they had got married last year.

It may be mentioned that the woman has a five-months-old daughter from the relationship.

Questions are also being raised over the age of the boy.
