Mumbai: In the past 5 years, 24 women have died due to surgeries performed for sterilization, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis told this to the assembly while answering the question raised by the legislatures on the issue of deaths due to the family planning operation. He further informed that the state government has taken various measures to curb the deaths which are happening due to the family planning operation.
Maharashtra Government has set up a District Quality Assurance Committee to investigate the cause of death due to family planning operation.
