Hyderabad: Wakf Board foils attempt to grab land near Balapur Maqbara

Hyderabad: Telangana State Wakf Board has succeeded in protecting the valuable wakf property located at Balapur.

According to the report published in DC, Wakf Board official has vacated the land with the help of police and revenue departments.

It may be mentioned that Laxma Reddy had tried to take possession of the land by erecting tin sheets at Roshan-ud Dowla, Balapur mandal.

Under survey number 51/3, the two tombs of the Qutub Shahi era were registered as wakf properties. The properties admeasuring 6 acres and 18 guntas were registered under AP Gazettee Number 6A dated 9th February 1989. However, Laxma Reddy claimed that he had purchased the land.

On Friday, when Wakf Board received information that construction activities are taking place at the land, its chairman, Mr. Mohammed Saleem sent a team to vacate the land.

It is reported that under the instruction from High Command, Mohammed Yousuf and Mohammed Sardar were also involved in usurping the property.

It may be recalled that in the month of March, British deputy high commissioner Andrew Fleming has tweeted the picture of the monument which has become a dump yard.

He had also written, “In Balapur I spotted a building @googlemaps describes as a historic monument named Maqbaras. @NayonikaRoy & I went odf road for a closer look and were dismayed to find this historic site doubles as a rubbish tip. Not a happy site is it @tstourism?”.

Reacting on the tweet, Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi, President of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) had tweeted, “@Andrew007Uk Pl remember you’re not Queen’s Governor General, but a diplomat. Request @SushmaSwaraj to take note, he cannot tell us how to manage our affairs anymore Having lived in UK, I know it’s not exactly a utopia. Maybe focus on preventing more Greenfells from happening?”.
