3 arrested after taxi driver beaten up, forced to say ‘Jai Shree Ram’

THANE: Three men have been arrested by Maharashtra police after a taxi driver had filed a complaint alleging that he was beaten up by them and later forced him to say ‘Jai Shree Ram’.

Mumbra police registered a case three accused persons — Mangesh Munde, Jaydeep Munde and Anil Suryawanshi under IPC sections 295-A (hurting religious sentiments) and 392 (robbery) 323, 504, 506 and 34.

Faisal Usman Khan (25), the victim, was allegedly thrashed by the accused persons for not giving side to their two-wheeler vehicle on which they were travelling. The incident took place in Mumbra area in Thane at around 3 am on June 23.

Khan told the police that he was in Mumbra when his car broke down and was trying to get it restarted with the parking lights on.

However, the three men on the scooter, who were in an inebriated state arrived at the spot and allegedly thrashed him without any reason up on realizing that he was a Muslim. They also asked him to say ‘Jai Shree Ram’.
