3 million Afghans are addicted to drugs: RTD

Afghanistan the world no 1 opium producer. Heroin is mostly in demand and is readily available at a cost of $ 6.

There is a place in Kabul called Pole Sokhta which is main hangout for the drug users. Most of the people are unemployed there.

As claimed by the Russian Television, 3 million Afghans are addicted to drugs. It’s almost impossible to catch them red-handed as information about raids is leaked to the dealers. They are arrested en’masse after each raid but are soon released.

Large quantities of drugs are seized at the checkpoints by Afghani police.

Since the NATO troops have arrived in Afghanistan in 2001, the production of opium has increased nearly 25 times.

Afghan Overdose: Drug addicts

Afghanistan, the world’s largest heroin exporter, also suffers from the effects of drugs. Out of a population of 32 million, around 3 million are addicted to narcotics.
