4 women feared drowned in river in Uttar Pradesh

Gorakhpur: At least four women are feared to have drowned today when their boat, which was crossing the Rohin river, capsised here, the police said.

Seven women were going to collect wood on the other side of the river near Bankatwa village under Gorakhnath police station area when their boat overturned, Inspector Yadvendra Bahadur Pal said.

While three of them, including the boatman, swam to safety, hunt is on for four others, Pal said.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the loss of lives and announced a financial assistance of Rs two lakh each for the kin of the deceased, an official statement issued by the UP government said today.

Adityanath has been a five-time MP from Gorakhpur.
