Mumbai: Rahim Shaukat Ali Shaikh, 19, of Azad Nagar, Bhayander (East) was arrested by Police for brutally assaulting a 4-year-old girl and injuring her severly.
Going into the details, Rahim Shaukat Ali is a rag picker and he committed the crime for seeking revenge on the girl’s parents.
Ram Bhal Singh, senior inspector of Bhayander police station said that the accused was angry with the minor girl’s parents as they had objected him staring in a lecherous manner towards the girl.
Seeking revenge, Shaukat Ali assaulted the 4-year-old with an iron rod, fracturing her skull. The girl’s parents found her in a pool of blood at a garbage near their home and they immediately took her to Kasturi Hospital, where doctors admitted her to the intensive care unit.
Dr Rajeev Agarwal said that she had suffered multiple skull fractures and internal brain injuries, and also has wounds on her eyes and face.
The police inspector said that “We arrested Shaikh under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code. He confessed. Shaikh was remanded in police custody till December 18, when he will be produced before the Thane court.”
However, this is not the first case which has happened at Azad Nagar. In November, the body of a 10-year-old boy, who went missing from Powai, was recovered from the area. Earlier this year in January an infant’s body was found in a drain.
