5.28 lakh vacancies in police across the country; TS has highest vacant posts

Hyderabad: In India, there are 5.28 lakh vacancies in Police Force. There are 1.2 lakh vacancies in UP, 50000 in Bihar and 49000 in West Bengal.

An official of the Ministry of Home Affairs informed that UP Police Force has 4,14, 492 sanctioned posts against which only 2,85,540 persons are working and 1,28,286 posts are vacant.

In the same manner, there are 48,991 posts vacant in West Bengal Police Force whereas there are 1,40, 904 sanctioned posts available.

In Telangana, the number of sanctioned posts in the police department is 76,407 whereas 30,345 posts are vacant.

It is very interesting to note that Nagaland Police is the only department which had staffed more than the sanctioned strength. It exceeded 941 posts.

In Maharashtra Police, out of 2,40,224 posts, 26,195 are vacant. In Madhya Pradesh, out of 1,15,731 posts, 22,355 are vacant.

Tamil Nadu Police has kept 22,440 posts vacant whereas it has 1,24,130 sanctioned vacancies. Karnataka Police has retained 21,943 vacant out of 1,00,243 posts sanctioned.

In Gujarat Police, there are 21,070 vacancies against 1,09,337 sanctioned posts. Jharkhand police has kept 18,931 posts vacant whereas it has sanctioned strength of 79,950 posts.

Rajasthan has 1,06,232 posts out of which 18,003 are vacant. In AP, out of 72,176 posts, 17,933 are vacant whereas in Haryana, 61,346 posts are sanctioned and 16,844 are vacant.

In Naxalite affected state of Chhattisgarh, there are 71,606 posts available but 11,096 posts have been kept vacant. Odisha Police has kept 10,322 posts vacant out of 66,973.

In Assam, 11,452 posts are vacant whereas it has a sanctioned strength of 65,987 posts. In J&K, 10,044 posts are vacant against the sanctioned strength of 87,882 posts.
