5 get 7-year jail in police exam scam

Bhopal: Five people have been sentenced to seven years of imprisonment by a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) special court in connection with the 2012 Police recruitment examination scam.

The charge-sheet filed by the CBI on September 13, last year had said that a candidate who was to appear in the constable recruitment exam from Jawaharlal Nehru College of Technology in Rewa skipped the exam and an imposter had appeared on his behalf.

The imposter was arranged by the candidate’s family through a middleman.

The Special Task Force (STF), which had earlier investigated the case, had made the candidate, his father and uncle accused in the matter, but, after the CBI took over probe, middleman and impersonator were also made accused.

The court held all the accused guilty under sections 419, 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120 (b) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 3 (4) of MP Recognised Examination Act.
