5 years jail, Rs. 1 lakh fine for use of ‘Chinese Manja’

Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Dr. Manoranjan Bhanja on Wednesday warned of strict action against those who indulge in use of ‘Chinese Manja’.

Addressing a press conference here, Dr. Manoranjan said that that the State Government has imposed a complete ban on procuring, stocking, sale and use of nylon thread which is commonly called as ‘Chinese Dor’ or other synthetic (non-biodegradable) threads coated with glass or other harmful substances used for kite flying or other purposes and likely to cause grievous injury and inconvenience to animals including birds as well as human beings during festivals or other occasions.

He said that those violating the ban would face imprisonment up to five years or Rs. 1 lakh fine or both. He urged the people to strictly follow the ban to protect the environment. (INN)
