500kgs of Ganja seized before entering Hyderabad

Eluru: Devarapalle Police on Friday have seized 500 kgs of Ganja that was being smuggled illegally into Hyderabad from Vizag, following arrests of seven people.

The Police received a tip-off in the wee hours of Friday that some people loaded 500 kgs of Ganja in a van, hiding it beneath mangoes and left for Hyderabad. The informer also gave the Eicher van no AP05X6130 to the Police.

On receiving the alert, the Circle Inspector ordered checking of vehicles on the national highway around 4.45 at Devarapalle Check Post. A van accompanied with white Toyota car came at the Check Post. The van tried to flee on seeing the Police but instead hit an electric pole.

The police arrested three persons in van as soon as it halted after the hit. Police took the three Riyaz Khan Akbar hailing from Rajamahendravaram, N Nukaraju of Narsipatnam and Aiti Satyanarayana of Visakhapatnam – into custody.

Abdullah Khan, Vishal Shinde, Anil Mann, Baba Saheb Mastan, all from Maharasthra travelling in Toyota car were also arrested by the Police.

The accused confessed on interrogation by the Police that they were smuggling the narcotics into Hyderabad as reported in Indian Express.
