56000 pairs of clothes distributed: Siasat, Faiz-e-Aam Trust, Helping Hands offer exemplary service

Hyderabad: Siasat, Faiz-e-Aam Trust and Helping Hands established clothes bank at Abid Ali Khan Eye Hospital, Chaderghat for collecting clothes with an intention to distribute them to poor families.

During a short span of its inception, 56000 pairs of clothes were distributed to the poor persons.

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily, Mr. Iftekhar Husain, Trustee, Faiz-e-Aam Trust and Dr. Shaukat Ali Mirza, Founder of Helping Hands made the arrangements for the distribution of clothes.

During the last year, 800 pairs of clothes were given to 220 blind men and women who were suffering from AIDS.

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Mr. Iftekhar Husain, Dr. Shaukat Ali Mirza, Dr. Maqdoom Muhiuddin and Mr. Syed Haider Ali visited the clothes bank and reviewed its functioning.

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan told that the activities of the organization during the past three years were exemplary. He also told that clothes are given to the needy persons as gifts with great respect. The beneficiaries include not only the residents of Hyderabad but also the people from districts.

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan further told that in the success of clothes bank, Sabilullah Trust of Canada played an important role which sent a container of clothes.

During the past two weeks, Hyderabad witnessed intensive cold. On the appeal made by Faiz-e-Aam Trust and Helping hands, philanthropists donated blankets and shawls. The volunteers of clothes bank distributed them to the houseless people sleeping on the roads.

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan also told that clothes bank is making an effort that no houseless and destitute person should sleep without a bed sheet or blanket. He thanked the donors and hoped that in other seasons also they would donate clothes.

It may be mentioned that clothes bank also gives a set of clothes to the needy brides and bridegrooms. During the current year, 300 pairs of clothes were distributed in Kurnool, 350 in Sumarkunti (near Vikharabad), 1000 in Warangal, 850 in Hanamkunda, 300 in Kishan Gunj.

Last year, in Maula Ali, 400 and in Qayam Nagar, 200 families received pairs of clothes. This year, 158 sets of clothes were distributed on the occasion of weddings. In this manner, 50 sets were distributed in Warangal. The set includes Sherwani, Kurta, Payjama for grooms and wedding suits, bangles, sandals and purses for brides.

Last year, clothes bank distributed 500 blankets among the footpath dwellers. This year, 650 blankets were distributed to them. In addition to it, 130 sweaters and jackets were also given.
